provence // an aix-ellent city
touchdown in provence! it was quite the journey to get to our first stop on the trip, which was aix-en-provence. in order for us to get to the city, we had to fly into marseilles via paris and then make the one hour drive to aix. the first day there, we took it easy with some rosé, a nap, and then dinner and a restaurant in the downtown area.
the next day, however, it was time to hit the ground running by making our first stop at the local market. i would just like to say that i have never seen such beautiful flowers (and for such great prices) in my entire life! i would have purchased everything if only i had a place to put them!
there were the most amazing foods at every stand and i couldn't help but buy a bunch of strawberries. my intention was to save them for later but once i had one, i couldn't put them down! ...basically the mcdonald's french fries of france.
during this trip, i knew this rag & bone hat was never coming off my head. another one of my impulsive purchases gone right! hats also protect me from the sun so i like that too. pairing my hat with this sea new york dress was a match made in provence heaven!
everywhere you looked, it was perfection and i found myself mesmerized by this small city. we decided to stay in the villa gallici during our stay in provence (this was my first option in tourtour but was closed this year due to rezoning #lame). although not my first choice, the city or the hotel did not disappoint. we were instantly welcomed by a tree-lined drive and path to the front door. the lobby was quaint, which led out to a stunning patio - but more on that later.
before heading out for dinner, i switched out my heels for a more walking-friendly option...kate spade sandals, of course!
that evening, we went to mitch, a restaurant my mom had gone to when she was in aix last. i honestly couldn't tell you what the appetizer was but the filet mignon was cooked to perfection! this place is definitely a must when visiting aix! more to come soon so stay tuned!
