2017 going on 2018
what a crazy fun and wild ride 2017 has been both here on prêt-à-provost, as well as in my life personally. this year i have been given some amazing opportunities and i wanted to share with you all a few of my favorite moments of this past year from the blog. so in true maria von trapp style, let's start from the very beginning:
january
to kick off the year, i headed to one of my favorite places in nyc, the new york public library, to start the year on a classic note. with kate spade nearly head to toe being my motto this classic pink and tweed ensemble still is one of my favorites to date!

i met a new friend named rex! it was so much fun strutting around town with this bag and taking "flat stanley" -esque photos with him! we went on adventures on the subway, got our nails done, went for a stroll in central park, and so much more. rex certainly brought joy and color to the blog during the still freezing and gloomy month of february here in nyc. he still goes on countless adventures just with his "real" owner abby so be sure to follow him on instagram!

the first trip of 2017 did not disappoint! dana and i headed to london for a few days and it was beyond magical. even though there were moments when we were freezing our butts off or getting rained on, this was still one of my favorite trips. so how did it come about? i randomly called dana one morning and asked her if she wanted to go to paris...how romantic right!? haha! but we eventually settled on london because they still speak "english." it was my third time to london and dana's first and i was so excited to visit all of the spots i had missed on my previous trip that i had an entire itinerary planned. seriously, it was to the minute. and i think i may have given dana a little travel bug because we are currently in talks for our next trip! and to a place where they don't speak english!

april
in april, i made the last minute decision to head down to the city of my alma mater, washington, dc to see the cherry blossoms...or lack thereof. just before my trip, there was a terrible snowstorm on the east coast just as the blossoms were about to bloom. this coated the buds in a layer of ice and stunted their growth, not only while i was there, but throughout the entire cherry blossom festival. i decided to not make a waste of the trip and still visited what remained of the blossoms as well as some of my favorite spots!

thanks to the incredible people at o&m salon here in new york, i was able to start healing my hair after quite a few stressful years that did some serious damage. a fresh cut was long overdue and the products that i had started using as a result of this appointment have helped immensely. but writing this also reminds me that i need another haircut! eek!

on my list of places to go during my lifetime, santorini was definitely in the top 5. thankfully andrea and i managed to work out the trip with our equally hectic schedules and spent almost 10 days in greece. we visited both santorini and mykonos with a pitstop in athens. unfortunately it was a complete downpour during our short few hours in athens and never got to go out to take photos...even though i had my perfect outfit planned. queue the hissy fit!
also as a fun sidenote, this is when i started changing my aesthetic! did you notice?
and almost immediately upon my return to new york, dana and i headed to our annual event: the veuve clicquot polo classic. an event that we haven't missed, nor plan to, since we both turned 21. and the reason that this year was extra special? it wasn't 500 degrees like in years past and could actually wear an outfit that i wasn't melting in! but i think it was only fair that mother nature owed me one for the stunt she pulled back in athens...

july
and then, in july, the most incredible thing happened: i was featured in the one and only new york times style section alongside celebs like neil patrick harris and kate mara from the veuve polo classic. i knew it may have been coming as i was interviewed and photographed at the event but when i didn't see myself in the papers immediately following the classic, i lost hope. but then, on some random thursday in july, i was notified by a friend and screamed with excitement. nothing could ever compare to that moment or even come close. i ran to the nearest newsstand and bought every last copy i could get my hands on and another box was checked for life accomplishments.

august
at this time during the year, i realized i had to make some life changes and this post kickstarted a better and healthier lifestyle. while i still am accomplishing most of these, admittedly i could pick a few of them back up again!

before the summer could officially end, i needed to head out to the hamptons for a fabulous girl's trip! dana, jenn, kristyn and i packed ourselves into my car and made the journey out east. the weekend was full of photos, food, rosé, and too much laughing to count! dana and i are definitely trying to make jenn and kristyn come up every year to make this a tradition!

october
october is clearly my favorite month because my birthday is on the first! and in celebration of my birthday, i decided to finally shoot at my favorite location in new york: the top of the rock. i had photographed other people there countless times but finally found the time and the outfit to make the trek up to the top myself.

and of course, i could not forget to include my first trip to los angeles to attend the veuve polo classic on the west coast! no style section feature there but i had way too much fun with dana and jenn to care!!

i will also note that october is the month where i decided to make the leap and take on photography full time!
november
november was filled with so many amazing travels including a visit back to paris. this time around i knew i needed professional help and had the honor of working with hana on some incredible photos. andrea then met up with me in the city of lights and we went on some crazy adventures! including one of my favorites to versailles!
and finally ended the trip with a stop in salzburg to accomplish a life-long dream of mine, singing the hills are alive on top of a mountain in austria. honestly, at that moment, i could have died happy. going on that sound of music tour was one of the best decisions i've ever made!
