i can't be tamed

the one talent i wish i had was the ability to sing - neither my shower head nor my neighbors are impressed. this is why i'm completely in awe of those who can sing, especially when it comes to broadway shows. i always find myself mesmerized by the cast members' talents every time i see a show and then typically leave completely jealous. i've always been a broadway baby a heart, so when i received an invitation to join a few other new york city bloggers for a night at disney's the lion king on broadway, i didn't hesitate for a second (and immediately started planning out my outfit).

i was inevitable that there would be some sort of animal print incorporated into my outfit for this wild night on broadway. i immediately grabbed my favorite leopard print item in my closet and paired it with a simple lbd (also seen here as it as quickly become a staple in my wardrobe). however, once i got to the theater and the show began, the last thing i was thinking about was my outfit because the costumes of the cast were spectacular.

each and every costume and headpiece was hand crafted to perfection and the details were immaculate. aside from the costumes, the show kept me entertained throughout every second. my favorite character was zazu who was played by jeffrey kuhn. to say he was hilarious would be an understatement. his witty jokes during the transitioning scenes never failed the audience and kept us laughing throughout the show.

after the show, we all stayed to enjoy a creative discussion with a few key members of the crew as well as chantel riley who played nala. we learned all about the behind the scenes magic that goes into the makeup, puppets, and costumes - the headpieces even weigh only a few ounces! it was truly a magical evening that i will always cherish. and to all the cast and crew, bravo!
