casual // cool // conservative
i don't think it's a surprise to anyone that i'm not the biggest fan of summer but i don't think i've actually gone into detail as to why i dread the season (and the heat in general). so of course there are the obvious points: my hair doesn't do humidity, i am ghostly pale and sunburns are so 1990, and the constant shvitzing is horrible and inevitable. but what most of you may not realize is that i'm very conservative in the way i dress. no, i'm not religious but i just prefer to dress a little more on the modest side.
i very rarely wear low-cut dresses (even the tiniest bit of cleavage is aggressive on me) and almost never show my arms, leading me to add a sweater or jacket over the shoulders if the dress is sleeveless. this makes shopping, and living, in the summer months painful. the selection for conservative clothing appropriate for the scorching nyc heat is slim so i will always be willing to dish out some major bucks for dresses that are casual and will keep me cool all summer long (i.e. this dvf dress that i wore nonstop last summer).
when i found this tibi dress, i didn't even think twice. the fabric is light and breathable while still being elegant. the back of this dress has an adorable button up detail but it is a love/hate relationship as i need someone else to button it up haha. i just don't see myself wearing any other dress for the rest of the summer and i will try to restyle it again! #outfitrepeater
p.s. it is so much fun shooting with dana!
