neutral territory

i love getting opinions from my friends and family when i am contemplating a purchase. but sometimes, they're wrong. over easter weekend, i went out to the hamptons and my family and i walked down main street for a little post-brunch shopping. of course we needed to stop in one of my favorite shops: zimmermann. i was instantly drawn to this comfy and casual knitted dress that i thought would be the epitome of a perfect transitional dress. what i thought was going to result in oos and ahhs, ended in jokes about me looking like a shepherd. my dad had even asked, "did you loose your sheep?" i think it goes without saying that i was completely disappointed! but i didn't let their "negative nancy" attitudes bring me down as i was already formulating the outfit in my head.

i decided to keep all of the accessories fairly neutral to let the texture do the talking and don't worry dad...there were no sheep in sight. i paired it with some of my favorite throwback pieces like this backpack from my first time at the veuve polo classic and these heels from my trip to provence. i'm so happy i listened to my own gut because this is truly one of the comfiest dresses i have owned!

so the next time someone in your family tells you not to buy something even though you love it, buy it anyways! they aren't going to be wearing it, you are! so as long as you feel good and love how you look, no one can dare rain on your parade.
