i love getting opinions from my friends and family when i am contemplating a purchase. but sometimes, they're wrong. over easter weekend, i went out to the hamptons and my family and i walked down main street for a little post-brunch shopping. of course we needed to stop in one of my favorite shops: zimmermann. i was instantly drawn to this comfy and casual knitted dress that i thought would be the epitome of a perfect transitional dress. what i thought was going to result in oos and ahhs, ended in jokes about me looking like a shepherd. my dad had even asked, "did you loose your sheep?" i think it goes without saying that i was completely disappointed! but i didn't let their "negative nancy" attitudes bring me down as i was already formulating the outfit in my head.
Read Moreworking in the fashion and retail industry, i know firsthand that it is incredibly rare to get a perfect fit. there is always some tweaking that could be done to get the piece to fit just right. and for me that tweaking sometimes requires a little more manual labor than i would probably like to admit. in a world of sizes small, medium and large (or 1, 2, and 3...i'm giving you major side eye maje), those not included in those categories get pushed to the sidelines and i start getting creative.
