provence // on the vine
this trip, we made our way from one cute city to the next. our next stop was the city of roussillon, not too far away from gordes. my favorite part about renting a car during our trip was that we could go wherever we wanted and stop whenever. so as we passed this vineyard, i felt this overwhelming feeling that i needed to trespass and take a few photos.
okay enough goofing around; it was time for some serious tourism. for our adventure to roussillon, i decided to wear this little red valentino number and pair it with my go-to denim jacket because it was a little chilly that day. are you sick of seeing me in this rag & bone hat yet?? okay, me neither! we continued on the windy road to roussillon and made to the hilltop town.
we made it there a little after the lunch hour so trying to find a restaurant that was still serving food (while hangry) was quite the task. but thankfully we found one! and i literally mean one. we quickly ate and then hurried to explore the city. our intention while we were here was to just learn a little bit about the history of the town and then wander the streets. roussillon is in the vaucluse region of provence and is known for its orange colored clay called ochre. not only was it used to construct many of the buildings in the region, but artists also transformed it into paint!
before heading out, we needed to make one stop at a pottery shop my mom went to the last time she was here. unfortunately it was at the very top of the hill so it was one last climb before i could take my much needed nap.
