expand your horizons
i'm not going to lie: i was one of those people who completely disregarded cruises as a legitimate vacation option. recently however, i have heard nothing but great things about how luxurious cruising has come and it completely sparked my interest to learn more. i was honored to be able to tag along with mollie and dana (my two blogging partners in crime) for a morning on the celebrity cruise summit ship. i mean, who could say no!?
the morning started bright and early...okay fine, 11am...as we headed to the other side (aka new jersey). as we arrived, my curiosity was at an all-time high as this was going to be my first time ever stepping foot on a cruise ship! i was literally expanding my horizons - see what i did there? we were immediately greeted by veuve clicquot rich cocktails and stunning views of manhattan. select members of the crew we circulating the crowd and i had the pleasure of chatting with the first female american captain kate mccue and michelin-star chef cornelius gallagher! i was completely in awe of their talent and accomplishments.
of course, the fun didn't stop there! we ventured downstairs to the most exquisite spread of food i have ever seen. whoever said cruise food was just hamburgers and pizza was seriously disturbed! the best bloody marys and mimosas i have ever had the privilege of drinking paired with food prepared to perfection: i couldn't have imaged a better lunch.
now i know what you're thinking...this must be it, right!? but, alas, there was more! we then headed to another restaurant on the ship where we were to compete with all of the other bloggers in a wine blending competition. now, i don't mean to brag, but after seeing the documentary somm, i would consider myself a wine expert. we recruited elena to join the dream team. with her outstanding math and science skills, we were the clear champions! our prize was a set of riedel wine glasses - so i no longer have to drink out of solo cups!
the morning completely changed my perception on cruises and celebrity paid incredible attention to detail throughout every aspect of the experience. if you are ever in the market for a vacation, i strongly recommend celebrity cruises for your next adventure! now please excuse me as i enjoy the box of chocolates and bottle of veuve rich that were in the goodie bags.
