love letters to woodstock
during our trip to vermont, andrea and i had the amazing opportunity to stay at the cutest hotel in the entire state: the woodstock inn. i had popped by this hotel for lunch when i was last in vermont and there was no doubt in my mind that i needed to come back. so nearly three years later, andrea was willing to journey the 5+ hour drive with me to get a better look at this cute little inn...this time as a guest!
upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendliest staff who went above and beyond making us feel at home. as we checked in, there was a massive fireplace with the warmest fire and hot cocoa just off in the corner. it was at this moment i knew i just wanted to move in here! perfect antiques and knick knacks were scattered throughout the lobby giving this place the perfect "home away from home" feel. we grabbed our keys and anxiously headed to the newly renovated rooms to unpack...needless to say we were not disappointed!
after unpacking and making a complete mess, andrea and i decided to head out an explore the town. there truly could not have been a more perfect location for this hotel because it is right in the middle of the most charming downtown area! downtown woodstock contains just a few restaurants and shops but they have enough charm and character to last a lifetime! one of my must-see spots was the famous woodstock covered bridge: conveniently located just across the street from the inn!
after our seemingly never-ending drive and all afternoon exploring, we headed to richardson's tavern in the hotel for one of the best meals i have had in the longest time. and because we were seated right by the fireplace, we decided to stay cozy and order a little dessert! when i say i could have moved right in, i mean it! from the staff to the cozy rooms to the charming downtown area, it was the perfect weekend getaway! i cannot wait to go back!
