fall is officially here but that doesn't mean mother nature is quite caught up with the times as yesterday's temperatures were in the high 80s. ugh! so let the awkward transition period begin where all i want to wear are chunky sweaters as all of my summer dresses have been put away. sticking to darker hued dresses will be my go to option until the weather can finally cool down a bit. as soon as i saw this dress when it arrived into the store, i immediately snagged my size. i normally don't gravitate towards a sheath silhouette but seeing this print made my decision easy. and although this dress doesn't have sleeves, i knew i would be able to layer it with ease...you know, when it actually gets cold. it also comes with a matching jacket that would give me major blair waldorf vibes if they were worn together!
Read Morefashion week is coming to an end, but for me, it ended with a bang at the rewardstyle party satrurday evening. every season, i always look forward to this event as i am able to see and catch up with some of my favorite blogger babes. i even ran into beth, who i haven't seen since our days at kate spade in washington, dc! i also loved catching up with emily, kate, kayla, and caroline...those ladies always make my day! oh and dana. obviously. and then i met some new faces like lejla who is just the sweetest!! once again i am reminded why i love doing what i do and the great music and open bar didn't hurt either!
Read Morethank goodness summer is (un)officially over...i never thought this day would come! now we can officially let the transition to fall begin. bring on the sweaters and deeper hues! this past weekend gave us a teaser of what fall is going to be like and life was good: until it became 85 degrees yesterday and all i wanted to wear was a black leather jacket. but i'm clearly over it. so on days that, i reach for this perfectly lightweight dress to get me through the day (without overheating) all while giving me just a pinch of fall vibes. and i can even see myself wearing this print again in the spring as another transition piece!
Read Morei am anything but subtle when it comes to my love for the hamptons. i have been making the journey out east on my days off whenever i can for the last two years and i cannot believe another summer season is officially over! although, i have to admit, i am far from sad because i won't have to fight anyone for a seat on the train and it won't take me 5 hours to get home if i decide to drive...at least until next summer. but even with all of the hurdles to get out there during peak season, there is nothing like summer in the hamptons.
Read Morei'm no stranger to tailoring pieces to fit my body better. as i mentioned here, i sometimes go as far as basically having a whole new garment created! this dress hit the awkward sweet spot between being a maxi dress/gown and being a midi dress on me. you know the one that hits just above the ankle? not a great look to say the least. so my instant solution was to have it hemmed! easy right!? well it would have been if it weren't for the pesky embellishments and the tiered ruffles. so i made a split decision and had my tailor cut the entire bottom section off...aka 14 inches!
Read Moreno matter what time of year it is, i always love escaping the city to the hamptons. although my favorite time to journey out east is during the fall (hello pumpkin patches!), summer comes in a close second. summer is significantly more bearable for me in the hamptons simply because it is noticeably cooler than nyc: that alone is worth the 2-5 hour drive!
Read Morei'm back a ready to go after a much needed two-week break! but boy, did those two weeks go by fast! i'm starting back up by sharing photos from one of my favorite events of the summer: the crowns by christy event in the hamptons. christy is truly one of the sweetest people and her creations are beyond stunning...so needless to say, i always rsvp yes to all of her events! upon receiving the invite to her hamptons soirée, i grabbed my two partners in crime and began the journey out east. but not without stopping at drybar first!
Read Morewhen living in such a big and busy city like new york, it is easy to get lost in the madness. since moving to the city over two years ago (wow, how time has flown!), i never quite mastered "big city living." coming to new york right after college, i never realized how difficult balancing work, blogging, being social, exercise, and my overall personal life would be and the sporadic schedule of my first post-college job didn't help. after a career switch about a year ago, i started to get back into a routine again. but of course, the holidays hit and my newborn routine quickly took a backseat. holidays in retail are anything but relaxing and the last thing i wanted to do when leaving work was talk to more people or even work out. so i found myself passing on events, soulcycle classes, and happy hours with friends just to get an extra hour of sleep. instead of bringing my lunch to work, i defaulted to ordering seamless from less than stellar options and would repeat the cycle when i got home at night. i assumed my schedule would reset itself when the holidays were over but, of course, it didn't and a few months ago, the need and desire for a change slapped me right across the face. hard.
Read Moreas i mentioned here, embroidery is one of my favorite trends of this year. and of course, one of the pieces i suggested for you all, i had to end up getting for myself! this skirt was haunting me. so i made the purchase a few weeks ago right when it went on sale! it was fate. most of the time i'm an impulse shopper, but sometimes i have to stare at a piece for months before i can fully commit and with this piece, the wait was completely worth it!
Read Morereading has not always been my favorite. sure, i will read countless articles from the new york and financial times *cough cough...buzzfeed* but when it comes to sitting down and finishing a book cover to cover, i always seem to come up with any excuse to never finish (or start for that matter) a book. but this summer i was determined! i gave myself a goal of finishing one book. okay i know i didn't goal myself high, but it's realistic for my hectic life and about the baby steps. and i'm happy to announce that i successfully completed my goal!
Read Morethe search is finally over! i have finally found the perfect dress to wear to a wedding. phew! i don't know why, but weddings seem to be the most stressful occasion to dress appropriately for and i can't even begin to tell you how long i have been searching for this dress! weddings are notorious for having countless rules for what the guests can and cannot wear and frankly i'm sick of it! i mean we all get the "no white" rule but did you know that you're also not supposed to wear solid black!? or bright red!? and what if the bride decides to wear blush pink? rule that color out too! and of course, never wear something that would draw attention away from the bride...if you still want to remain friends with her. i sometimes feel like the bride and groom should just pick out the guests outfit as well.
Read Morenew york city is getting hot...and i mean hot! i have not been able to escape very much to the hamptons this month and while i am crying on the inside, my skin is melting off on the outside and my hair is exponentially getting frizzier. is it fall yet!? summer is not fun! so with the temperatures increasing, the amount of time i spend outside is decreasing and the few times that i am outside, i try to make my clothing as comfortable as possible.
Read Morei love nordstrom as much as the next person. they always have an amazing variety of brands at all price points and of course, their return policy is unlike any other. but i would be perfectly happy if i never had to see another email about the nordstrom anniversary sale. and add that to the countless bloggers and overall general public posting about the sale, i felt like i was being pulled in a million different directions before the sale even began. needless to say, this is not my favorite time of the year. but let's be honest; the reason bloggers and influencers post so excessively about the annual event is because, as jacey so simply put it, it generates a good chunk of income through our affiliate links! so this year, i was torn: to post, or not to post? and i think we all know by now that the answer to that question for me was not to post.
Read Morethere will always be a special place in my heart for paris. when i was in college, there was no question in my mind as to where i would study abroad and inevitably ended up at sciences po for my fall semester junior year. i had visited paris a few times prior to the move when i was in both middle and high school and i had the most magical of times. basically those experiences set the bar quite high for my time abroad. there still are some pre-blogging instagrams of mine floating around my feed but one of my favorite memories of my study abroad (and most photographed) were my strolls back from class through the luxembourg gardens with my little green ladurée bag: filled with nothing but sugary goodness!
Read Moreto me, summer has become synonymous with wolffer estate summer in a bottle rosé. from the sweetness to the perfectly refreshing taste, it's no wonder my family and i bought 10 cases for the summer! but let's be honest...the real reason i'm absolutely obsessed with this rosé is because of the bottle. can we talk about those colors!? so when i saw this dress, i instantly thought of summer in a bottle and couldn't help but pour myself a glass. what are some of your favorite summer drinks?
Read Moreit's no secret that i'm mildly obsessed with stripes...so there was no surprise when i instantly fell in love with this flutter sleeved dress! oh, and pippa middleton kind of liked it too so no big deal. i have worn this dress on countless occasions (most of them being work) and the silhouette makes it perfect for anything life throws at you! i hope everyone has an amazing monday and an even better week ahead!
Read Morefull disclosure: i am not at all irish...but i'm not at all mad about looking like a modern-day twenty something leprechaun in this dress. being a redhead (and irish imposter), i was always told to wear green and that it was "my color." me and my closet full of everything but green strongly disagree. but now and again, i get lucky and find just the right shade! what instantly drew me to this dress was that the base is an ivory and just the details were green: totally manageable!
Read Moreas many of you remember, i had the most amazing time this year at the veuve clicquot polo classic. one thing that i didn't mention, was that i was approached by two men from the new york times style section and they asked to photograph and interview me about my outfit. queue the internal screaming! i tried my best to play it "cool" but i think you all can imagine how "not cool" i was. i immediately ran back to dana and freaked out about it for roughly 10 minutes (okay way longer than 10 minutes). my initial thought was to instastory the experience but my better judgement knew not to jinx it: an interview wasn't a guarantee to be in the paper. so i waited. i checked the two sunday papers following the classic but saw nothing as i assumed the style section was only published on that day. i began to give up hope thinking that i may have missed it or was not included in the article but then the unthinkable happened: i received a facebook notification, while at work, where someone had mentioned that i was seen in the paper. i don't think i've ever googled anything so fast! and there it was, right before my eyes...myself in the new york times style section...and it was about time!
