pastel me more

hello charleston: the perfect spring getaway from the cold and dreary new york city...the sun was desperately needed! in contrast to the last time i was in charleston a few years ago in august, this time the head and humidity were far from extreme and i wasn't in a hurry to race home to nyc! as a result of the aggressive weather, i wasn't really a fan of any of my photos. so like my trip to paris, i was eager to get back to the charming city to redo the photos. for this time around, i took my time strolling the streets and taking in the scenery. everywhere i turned, there were colorful corners that belonged in a magazine and it was a plethora of pastel perfection!

berry, berry, quite contrary

my short stay in savannah was coming to an end but before i headed over to charleston, emily, ashley, and i were sure to get some last-minute exploring in! but in order to fuel up, we stopped at soho south café for some much needed brunch. unfortunately, the staff was incredibly rude to us about taking pictures so after we got the shots we needed, we just went straight to dunkin' donuts...because duh! i think we can safely say who the real winners were here.

check it out

i think it goes without saying that i adapted to southern living (and dressing) with ease and i knew that my suitcase wouldn't have been complete without a plethora of gingham! i purchased this gingham top months ago in anticipation of some warmer days and i was so excited to finally wear it in savannah! i loved pairing it with it's gingham mansur partner-in-crime and this stunning floral skirt to complete the perfect southern belle look! now if we could just tackle the heat and humidity in the south in the summer and then i would actually live there full-time!

orange is the new black

oh savannah! your picturesque streets were seemingly never-ending and i could have walked them for hours...and i basically did! we fueled up for our only full-day with the most incredible brunch at collins quarter before heading out on our adventures. and because ashley is no stranger to savannah (she lives just a couple hours away!), she knew all of the perfect spots and corners for me to imagine myself living there. but if it wasn't for the raging summer heat and humidity, i would have packed up and moved that instant! thankfully i had the comfiest dress to strut around town in and it kept me cool all day long! our day was filled wandering the streets of historic savannah and worked up an appetite for dinner at pacci right before our ghost tour that night! oh yeah, and speaking of ghost tour, i had no idea how haunted this town was! i'm just thankful we didn't go on one on our first night! but spoiler alert: i made it through my last spooky night before i bolted out of there the next day!

draw the line

after two amazing but very cold trips (woodstock and kennebunkport) i was desperately in the market for some sun! so ashley, emily and i decided to head over to the cutest southern town that has been on my bucket list for as long as i can remember: savannah! while packing i knew i just needed an explosion of color and prints to really jump both feet into southern weather so this wrap skirt was one of the first pieces thrown into the suitcase. this winter has been never ending so it was incredibly refreshing to not have to wear my coat...even though i brought it just in case it got cold later in the evening! spoiler alert: it didn't. stay tuned for more posts from my trip to the south!

i present to you...

after participating in new york's fashion week for a few seasons now, the glitz, glamour, and allure have worn off just slightly. but that doesn't mean i don't get giddy seeing new and fabulous designs come down the runway! this season, i had the amazing opportunity to attend the kate spade presentation and it's safe to say having worked for the company on and off since 2012 (and only recently leaving in october) it was literally a dream come true! i had never attended the presentation before and was like a kid in a candy store walking in. but attending my first kate spade presentation, i couldn't show up in just anything! i originally had planned on wearing this dress but after trying it on, it was just a little too much for me. so i opted for this fun shirtdress that was beyond comfortable! which came in handy because in addition to being in front of the camera for part of the day, i had to wear it behind the camera as well!

stealing from the boys

happy tuesday! today i'm sharing my favorite outfit from my trip to kennebunkport with dana that has a little twist to it; this button down, layered underneath the cutest corduroy pinafore, is actually from j.crew mens! for this trip, i wanted a more relaxed feel so that's why i beelined right to the men's section. not only do they have just as cute of prints (if not the same) in the perfect oversized fit with out of control comfy fabric, but the price is so much less expensive! especially when you look at the "boyfriend" shirt from the women's section compared to just getting a boyfriend shirt from the men's section (minus the boyfriend). it's really a win/win if you ask me!

from kennebunkport, with love

happy valentine's day everyone!

what better way to celebrate one of my favorite holidays (mostly because everyone wears pink and red) than by sharing the details from my girl's getaway with dana to kennebunkport, maine! we were so honored to have been asked to help celebrate the most romantic of months in this charming town to kick off paint the town red! but before i get into all of the good stuff, it is crucial that i share the perfection that was my hotel: the grand hotel. located just before the bridge to what is considered kennebunkport, this quaint hotel in kennebunk was just what i needed for a weekend getaway! as soon as i checked in, i jumped into the frette robe that was hanging and had to stop myself from eating all of the chocolates that awaited me on the coffee table. after getting settled in my hotel, and dana in hers, we headed out to explore the town!

all over overalls

now you couldn't think i could leave vermont without sharing the outfit that i wore overalls in could you!? i was definitely stepping outside of my comfort zone here but i figured it was about time i tried out the trend. i was nervous to actually wear them at first but once i found this pair and saw how comfy they were, i am completely on board with this trend now! and better yet, they are under $40! i decided to layer them with this fair isle sweater for the perfect winter look! now i can't wait to style these again for a more city appropriate version! hope everyone has an amazing monday!

love letters to woodstock

during our trip to vermont, andrea and i had the amazing opportunity to stay at the cutest hotel in the entire state: the woodstock inn. i had popped by this hotel for lunch when i was last in vermont and there was no doubt in my mind that i needed to come back. so nearly three years later, andrea was willing to journey the 5+ hour drive with me to get a better look at this cute little inn...this time as a guest!

wandering in woodstock

welcome to woodstock! i had been dying to come back to vermont after visiting it for the first time almost three years ago! my last trip was during the summer, and although it was absolutely stunning, i was itching to come back in the winter. snow covered mountains is one of my favorite sights...because sandy beaches are so 2005. andrea and i decided to make the nearly 5-hour trek up to woodstock to get in some snow time (outside of nyc). unfortunately, on the drive up, it was pouring rain and continued to rain throughout the afternoon and evening. the michigander in me knew this only meant one thing come morning: ice...and a lot of it. thankfully it was cold enough that the snow didn't leave us completely but it was all covered with a sheet of ice. weather challenges aside, that didn't stop up from exploring the town!

vintage vermonting

thank god it's tuesday amirite!?? that is mostly because today is the start of my posts from my trip to vermont! before i get into the juicy travel content, i had to share one of my favorite outfits from the trip. and that was all because of this vintage inspired turtleneck that made me feel right at home in vermont. and thank goodness most of the snow from the sidewalks had been cleared so i was able to wear my favorite suede over the knee boots! stay tuned for my upcoming travel posts!

safety net

happy monday everyone! as many of you know i was traveling all last week adventuring though new england: stopping at both woodstock, vermont and kennebunkport, maine! i seriously cannot wait to share all of the details and photos with you all but i first needed to share this outfit from just before my trip! it's a slight departure from my traditional style but it was so fun to take a baby step outside of my comfort zone. i have worn this dress before (and similarly layered) but added a twist this time with the plaid jacket, hiker booties, and a little fishnet sock! i had so much fun wearing this outfit but i may need to go back to my safety net of fit and flare cocktail dresses before i try something edgy again!

beret of sunshine

at the end of last year, i mentioned here how obsessed i have been lately with berets! they are the perfect way to add that little extra something to your outfit without putting too much effort into it. so i have been trying to incorporate more berets into my daily wardrobe and couldn't help but bring this pearl one back out! and i will mention that i have also recently purchased this and this and i am so excited to start wearing them! ...you know, after the whole 5-7 business day thing.

happy first post of 2018!yeah, yeah, it's been two weeks since the new year but taking that time off has gotten me recharged and finally ready for this year! and what better way to get back into posting than featuring an accessory that i waited almost 3 months for: this stunning hand painted bag with the image of my logo! and of course a little "pret" monogram as the cherry on top of the sundae.
