my final post from paris is here and i am a little sad about it! for our final full day in paris, i knew we needed to stop at the most iconic café in paris: café de flore. located in my old neighborhood on the boulevard saint-germain, this quaint little café has hosted some of the world's finest patrons. does ernest hemingway ring a bell? although andrea nor i are the next hemingway, we felt honored to grace this historic parisian spot! and the hot chocolate is one of my favorites in the city! paris really knows how to do hot chocolate!
Read Morenext up on my paris re-do list was none other than my vacation home...err i mean the palace of versailles. the last time i visited my vacation home...ugh i did it again! the last time i visited versailles was during my first few days of studying abroad. i took the hour+ long train out with a few of my classmates and explored the palace. this instagram was even one of my favorites from the pre-blog days! this time around, andrea and i opted for the time efficient uber just a 30 minute ride outside of paris. we had originally planned to get there right as the gates opened with our pre-paid tickets in hand but our snooze buttons got the best of us! we headed out around 1:00pm and that was a mistake to say the least. we figured it would be crowded on the thursday we went but not as crowded as it actually was! our pre-paid tickets only saved us around 5-10 minutes but the waiting in line took around and hour and a half. and the photographer in me started to freak out about how much light we were actually going to have. but we definitely made it work!
Read Moreoh paris i missed you so much!! it had been two years since i was last in the city of lights and words cannot describe how eager i was to get back! for those of you who may not know, paris has a very special place in my heart. i first visited paris with my family when i was in middle school when i barely knew the phrase "je vourdrais un croissant" but that didn't stop me from instantly falling in love with it. i then made a stop here for two weeks with a youth travel group just before my sophomore year of high school and i think we can all guess where i decided to study abroad when i was a junior in college. paris is one of those places where i will always feel at home and this time i was ready to do it right (aka for instagram).
Read Morei cannot believe it has nearly been two weeks since dana and i headed to los angeles for the veuve clicquot polo classic! this was the first time i ventured to this city on the west coast and truly didn't know what to expect. all i knew is that i need to stop at "the lampposts" and stuff my face at in-n-out burger. it was a short trip so time was limited but i made sure we carved out enough time to wake up at the crack of dawn to head over to the lacma where the posts are located. and don't worry...in-n-out burger was not long after!
Read Morei am anything but subtle when it comes to my love for the hamptons. i have been making the journey out east on my days off whenever i can for the last two years and i cannot believe another summer season is officially over! although, i have to admit, i am far from sad because i won't have to fight anyone for a seat on the train and it won't take me 5 hours to get home if i decide to drive...at least until next summer. but even with all of the hurdles to get out there during peak season, there is nothing like summer in the hamptons.
Read Moreour time in greece was quickly coming to an end and we couldn't believe we were on our last full day! not only did we not spend enough time in mykonos, i felt like i wanted to explore even more of the islands...i was just getting started!! but we came to terms with our the end of the trip and checked off the last few things on our to-do list! one of those things was riding an atv. i'm sorry...how cool are they! i definitely didn't feel cool enough driving one but andrea and i rocked our newest accessory with ease: and by ease, i mean practicing for roughly 5 hours before really being comfortable. this seemed to be the mode of transportation everyone resorted to and we obviously needed to do so to blend in.
Read Morewhen originally planning our trip, we initially just planned to visit santorini and weren't even going to consider going to another island. but after a little bit of research, we concluded that we needed to visit mykonos as well. andrea and i didn't think anything could top santorini and we, truthfully, we had very low expectations for mykonos. once we hopped off the ferry from santorini and checked into our hotel, we knew we were in for a fun couple of days! we immediately dropped our bags off in our (stunning) room and headed right into town for an afternoon of exploration.
Read Moreour time in santorini was almost up, but one thing that was still on our bucket list was to take a cruise around the island to watch the sunset. we were so lucky to work with spiridakos and joined one of their semi-private cruises complete with food and drinks. earlier that day, the waters were so rocky that they had to cancel their afternoon excursion but thankfully it was safe enough for us by sunset! we had a scheduled pickup at 3:30pm from our hotel to head down to the marina so andrea and i decided to have a leisurely lunch by the pool. what started out as relaxing, quickly turned into a frantic race to get ready because the car had arrived at 2:30!
Read Moreeach morning during our explorations in santorini, we built up quite the appetite. and because we were out the door before the sun, we were able to make it back to the hotel before the end of breakfast...and the kirini had quite the setup! thankfully breakfast was included with our room but this wasn't just your classic continental breakfast; it was truly a feast! our second morning at the hotel, we decided to ditch the restaurant seating and sit up on one of the hotel's many landings overlooking oia. so we grabbed all of the food we could carry (and then some) and headed up the steps to have our breakfast with a side of oia.
Read Moreit was another 5am wake-up call for our second morning in santorini and it was this day that i thought andrea was going to throw the alarm against the wall...but it was a good thing she didn't! one of the reasons that this morning was my favorite in santorini wasn't because i was wearing this ahhmazing skirt but because i felt like we had our bearings of the city. our first day we were simply exploring oia and getting lost in the many streets. but come day two, we were "experts." we were able to pinpoint the exact places we wanted to venture to first and that was a monumental stress-reliever.
Read Moreafter a two-week blogging break and a little trip to greece (nbd), i'm back baby! i am so excited to fully share with you all about my trip to greece with andrea. after so much time planning and pinteresting, our departure date definitely snuck up on us and somehow i still felt like we had nothing planned.
Read Morei don't think it comes as a surprise that i chose this post to be my last from my trip to london with dana. after countless hours of planning, we tried to optimize the best times to go to each location. we researched endless photos on instagram, pinterest and plain old google and concluded that the best time to voyage to big ben, was sunset.
Read Morehidden in the depths of covent garden in london, lives this colorful little alley that was full of wonder and fun! after our big morning at buckingham palace, we headed to neil's yard for some breakfast at 26 grains and some good old fashioned wandering.
Read Moreit was another hectic 6am wake up call where dana and i were scrambling to get out the door on time in order to keep our schedule for the day. but thankfully we made it to the palace before the crowds and the morning commuters. so i would basically say we had a private audience with queen lizzie herself.
Read Moremy two favorite things in life are the color pink and cake. and when you combine those things together, you get peggy porschen cakes! this highly instagrammed spot was at the top of my list and dana and i knew the perfect time to go...breakfast!
Read Moreoh hello london!! it has been so long (okay okay only a year and a half) since my last trip to london but i was so excited to bring dana along this time around! one of the places i knew i wanted to revisit was notting hill. no exceptions! as the self-designated trip planner, i blocked off an entire afternoon to just stroll the streets of the cutest neighborhood in london and i still feel like i needed more time!
