the lost outfits

it’s been a while since i’ve posted on the blog. while part of the reason is because i really haven’t had much to say, but it’s really mostly due to the fact that i have been really discouraged about losing my hard drive. i know i don’t want to belabor the point anymore but losing 40,000 photos of not only client and personal photos but my final project for my photography program really hurt…like really hurt. i felt like i lost an arm and it just took me a while to really come to terms with the fact that it’s never going to come back…i know, dramatic but whatever…

falling for vermont

after dana and i checked out of our hotel, we met up with andrea and made the switch over to the cutest airbnb just a few minutes from the downtown area. and holy crap was it the cutest! while it’s inside was decent, the reason we ended up choosing this location was because it was on a farm! like a real farm!! haha okay this city girl is going to calm down now! while i was behind the camera for a lot of the farm shots for dana and andrea, they were truly some of my favorites! loved this one i took for andrea and this one for dana!

stowe away

last month, dana and i decided we needed a heavy dose of fall foliage so we packed up the car and made the five and a half hour drive to the land of foliage: vermont! while i am no stranger to vermont, as i’ve been a few times and most recently to woodstock with andrea last winter, this was my first time to stowe. dana and i had the honor of staying at field guide for a night, which was one of the cutest hotels in the area!

colors of the wind

to give a little back story on this post, a few years ago, i saw the stunning rach parcell visit the dreamiest of tulip fields. as much as i would have loved to hop on a plane and jet off to washington state, back then, i would never have been able to justify flying to the other side of the country to visit a field of flowers. but now? it's a whole different story. thankfully i was able to persuade dana to come along with me just a few weeks before the skagit valley tulip festival began and what seemed like only days later, we were on our way to seattle! we arrived to the rainy city tired after our 6am flight but this meant we had the whole day to explore downtown. we dropped our bags off at our hotel and headed to the typical seattle hotspots (but more on that later).

broadway baby

for those of you who may not know, i'm kind of a broadway nerd. i even went to a broadway camp here in nyc when i was in middle school...i know...it's okay to be jealous. but ever since i realized my fate of not being the best singer, i knew i would have to settle for only being an audience member. but i'm definitely okay with that! most recently i've seen mean girls on broadway, dear evan hansen (twice), hello dolly, anastasia, and then when i got the invitation to attend frozen on broadway a few weeks ago, i couldn't say no! as much as i wanted to channel my inner elsa, i decided to dress away from the theme of the musical and opted for a more sophisticated ensemble. i had so much fun feeling like an old hollywood star in this trumpeted skirt and completed the look with my favorite grandma bag...and it was so comfortable for the evening!

saved by the bell sleeve

are you guys ready for a holiday outfit marathon?? well you have no choice because someone (me) chose to procrastinate this holiday season. oops! for whatever reason, this season seemed to be one of my most stressful to date and found myself frantically running around the city, both for my own holiday shoots as well as for pret.a.photo...i even visited the tree at lotte palace hotel 11 times! oh yeah and on top of that i had to buy presents for all of my family members and the gifts for each other because i have somehow become the designated family gift buyer. can you believe my parents called me within 10 minutes of each other asking what the other wanted?? well there is no time to waste so i was thankful to be able to throw on this sparkly tweed jacket with an all black outfit to be instantly holiday-ready!

honey, i'm home

as much as i love traveling, there is nothing quite like coming home. after taking one of the longest trips i've ever been on to paris, vienna, salzburg, and hallstatt (with a few days in detroit), i was so relieved to finally be able to sleep in my own bed. all in all, i was gone for a total of 3 weeks and 3 days and carried 3 rolling bags in addition to my camera equipment all across europe. i was exhausted! but nothing can ever compare to coming home to new york. sometimes i get caught up in the craziness of the city and forget how truly wonderful this place is! so it takes a little vacation to remember that new york is my true love. i am beyond thankful that i get to live in such a creatively simulating and energetic city that is full of countless opportunities. so every time i wear this sweatshirt, it serves as a little reminder of the greatest place on earth! ...but i'm not biased.

bag it up // the benefits of shopping in europe

oh paris, your charm and culture are irresistible...but not quite as irresistible as that 13% v.a.t. (value added tax). for those who may not be familiar, when shopping in europe the tax is included in the price on the tag *cough* america...get on that *cough* and any non-european resident has the opportunity to get that tax back when leaving the country. i know! this makes shopping in europe that much more fun because you seemingly get a 13% discount wherever you go! and when there is a big purchase i want to make and know i'm going to be travelling, i do all the research that i can before leaving for any overseas trip. but let's break this down a little further. of course, prices are going to vary between brands and different countries (with different currencies) that they may be located in so it's always handy to do a little leg work if you are going to be visiting multiple countries. however, more often than not, the home country of the brand is going to be the least expensive (i.e. ted baker is the least expensive in england and tory burch is the least expensive in the us) so i knew my trip to paris would be my opportunity to finally get my hands on the céline clasp bag - to obviously complete my transformation into a 95 year old woman.

crop to the top

with summer's heat creeping upon us - okay it is already here because this week in nyc was hot - i keep finding myself reaching for one of my old favorite combos: the crop top paired with a high-waisted skirt. and bonus points if they match! crop tops are an amazing way to show off your waist and the entire skirt or bottom all while staying comfortable with the climbing temperatures. what are some of your favorite ways to stay cool and comfy during the summer?

in bloom

to say this winter has been brutal, would be an understatement. so i was ecstatic to see the weather in london was going to not be freezing...or as freezing as new york. so i took this opportunity to start bringing out my spring pieces, while still trying to make them winter-appropriate.
